HAROLD BAQUET: PICTURING BLACKNESS
THE DOBOLL DESIGN CENTER
4TH FLOOR MONROE LIBRARY
OCTOBER 24 - APRIL 2025
OPENING RECEPTION:
THURSDAY OCTOBER 24 • 5-7 PM
Harold Baquet was a photographer and artist who built a career documenting African American political and daily life in his native city of New Orleans. A descendant of seven generations of Creole residents, he grew up surrounded by the artistic, musical and crafts communities of New Orleans. Harold was also the photographer at Loyola University for more than 25 years, and an integral part of our campus community.
This retrospective celebrates Harold’s quintessential investigation, creativity, collaboration, and mentorship by hosting an exhibition of his photos works side by side with photographers who embrace this same spirit in their own works to highlight what is happening now in New Orleans.
